چکیده
Botryococcus braunii CCAP 807/2 has been studied intensively for biofuel production due to its high hydrocarbon content. This strain is also capable of producing value carotenoids. The aim the study was analyse carotenoid B.braunii under different growing conditions, first, by using media and light intensities in indoors, next, examine composition between green, intermediately pigmented red B. grown indoors outdoors. alga cultured two (100 500 μmol photons m−2 s−1) three media: a control with complete modified CHU 13 medium, without N CHU13 + 2Fe. All cultures were at 25 °C 12:12 h light:dark cycle mixed magnetic stirrers. For determination stages, cells collected from indoor outdoor analysed their HPLC. intensity reached highest biomass yield 0.6 g L−1 on day 16, whereas counterparts low took 30 days reach same yield. increased up twofold 2 compared ones light. accumulates lutein, canthaxanthin astaxanthin β,β-carotene as main Whilst lutein major carotenoids green/intermediate cells, predominant culture, respectively. suggests that potential candidate and/or astaxanthin. It amount when optimum conditions sub-optimum

Production of biofuel by using micro algae (Botryococcus braunii)
Microalgae are photosynthetic, heterotrophic organisms that have an extraordinary potential for cultivation as energy crops. Microalgae are potential source of biomass, which may have great biodiversity and consequent variability in their biochemical composition (Satyanarayana et al., 2011). Under difficult agro-climatic conditions and are able to produce a wide range of commercially interestin...
متن کاملGrowth rate assessment of high lipid producing microalga Botryococcus braunii in different culture media
The green colonial microalga, Botryococcus braunii is well known for its high lipid content and has already been proposed as a renewable energy source for various aquaculture and biotechnological applications. However, due to its slow growth rate compared with other microalgae, B. braunii has not yet been used in mass culture to produce more biomass. Therefore, in this study we tested different...

متن کاملWavelength specificity of growth, photosynthesis, and hydrocarbon production in the oil-producing green alga Botryococcus braunii.
The effect of monochromatic light on growth, photosynthesis, and hydrocarbon production was tested in Botryococcus braunii Bot-144 (race B), which produces triterpenoid hydrocarbons. The growth was higher in order of red, blue, and green light. The color of red light-grown cells became more orange-yellow and their shape dominantly changed to grape-like with long branches. Photosynthetic carbon ...
متن کاملMicronutrient Requirements for Growth and Hydrocarbon Production in the Oil Producing Green Alga Botryococcus braunii (Chlorophyta)
The requirements of micronutrients for biomass and hydrocarbon production in Botryococcus braunii UTEX 572 were studied using response surface methodology. The concentrations of four micronutrients (iron, manganese, molybdenum, and nickel) were manipulated to achieve the best performance of B. braunii in laboratory conditions. The responses of algal biomass and hydrocarbon to the concentration ...
